New info claims LG is already working on the Nexus 5

There's some conflicting information floating around regarding the Nexus 5 and LG's involvement – the VP of LG Mobile Europe said in an interview that LG isn’t working on the next Nexus, then LG said that the statements in the interview were misinterpreted and now Korean site Daum.net says LG is in fact working on the Nexus 5.
The Nexus 4 has reportedly sold 3 million units despite all the stock shortages when it launched, so it can be considered a fairly successful product. The phone also brought some good marketing to LG, though not in its home country where the Nexus 4 didn’t get popular with consumers due to its lack of LTE connectivity.
Still, you can understand why LG might want to make another one.
Anyway, if LG is indeed working on the next Nexus, what's with the Moto X coming from Google-owned Motorola?
Unfortunately, the Korean site has no info on when the Nexus 5 will be unveiled and whether it will bring Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Nothing on the upcoming tablet either.

Sony Xperia SL and acro S JB 4.1.2 update rolling out now

Sony is releasing the Jelly Bean 4.1.2 firmware update for the Sony Xperia SL, Xperia acro S and expanding the availability of the Xperia S update, which reportedly started received it a week ago. We guess the rollout needs time to reach everybody with the current firmware currently making the rounds in France.

The said 4.1.2 update for the three Xperias was certified at the beginning of the month and it didn't take that long to actually be released.
The Sony Xperia ion is next in line to receive the update - fingers crossed.
The phone will notify you when the firmware is available or you can check it through the Sony PC suite.

LG Optimus L4 and L4 Dual leak ahead of announcement

Two new LG droids showed their faces today ahead of the official announcements - the Optimus L4 and Optimus L4 Dual. Both smartphones runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with LG's proprietary skin on top.
LG Optimus L4 and L4 dual feature similar specs but different designs. Both phones are powered by MediaTek's MT6575 platform with a 1GHz single-core Cortex-A9 processor, PowerVR SGX531 GPU and 512MB of RAM. The rest of the specs include a 3.8-inch True IPS HVGA display, 4GB expandable internal memory, a 3MP camera with a LED flash and a 1700 mAh battery unit.

The connectivity department of both Optimus L4 phones include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and 3G with HSPA support.
LG Optimus L4 and L4 Dual are expected to be announced and launched by the end of June. The Optimus L4 should costs about €135, while its dual-SIM sibling should go for €145.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini supports EE 4G network, hits UK in July

UK carrier EE has confirmed that the 4G version of the just announced Samsung Galaxy S4 mini will be compatible with its 4GEE network. .

Additionally, the UK carrier has officially announced that it'll stock the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini from launch and will be available on Orange and T-Mobile UK brands. Pricing hasn't been unveiled just yet, as it will get detailed later on.
British store chain Phones4U has revealed that it'll start offering the device to customers in July. A specific time frame isn't available at this point in time. We suspect the SIM-free pricing of the Galaxy S4 mini will become available once more UK carriers and retailers chime in in the following weeks.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini unveiled with 4.3" screen, Snapdragon 400

Congratulations, it's a boy – the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini was just officially announced and it's everything the rumors made it out to be. It packs a 4.3" qHD Super AMOLED display and many of the advanced features of its daddy.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's extensive TouchWiz customizations on top. That includes the WatchON app with IR blaster, an 8MP camera with Sound & Shot and Panorama modes (but no double shot or 360 photo), Group Play and S Health (but without the barometer, temperature or humidity sensors).

The smartphone is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB RAM and while Samsung didn’t explicitly say what the chipset is, it's clear that it's the Snapdragon 400 chipset used in the Mega 6.3. There's 8GB of built-in storage, expandable via the microSD card slot.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini measures 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.94mm and weighs 107g compared to 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm and 130g for the full-sized Galaxy S4. It packs a 1,900mAh user-replaceable battery and will launch with two color options, White Frost and Black Mist.
On the connectivity side there are three options – the top of the line model with LTE connectivity (and NFC), a 3G HSPA+ model and a dual-SIM 3G model. There's also dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS + GLONASS.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini will be shown off at the June 20 event. It's probably then when we'll also learn more about its pricing and availability.
We're glad that Samsung is trying to build a smaller flagship, just like the one we asked for in our petition. If the Galaxy S4 mini had a 720p resolution screen, it would have fitted the bill quite successfully. Here's hoping that others will follow.

Huawei Ascend W2 official photo surfaces, rumored to cost $290

Huawei's very first Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Ascend W1, will soon turn 6 months old and by the looks of it, the company is looking to issue a refresh in the face of the Ascend W2.
With its specs entering rumorland last month, we got a basic idea of the Ascend W2's personality, but not of its looks. Today this changes, thanks to the popular leaks source, which has provided an official photo of the smartphone's front.
If the rumors turn out true, the Ascend W2 should pack a 4.3" HD display, 8MP camera with LED flash and 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU with 1GB of RAM. Under the back cover reportedly resides a 2000mAh battery and the phone will come with a decent connectivity suite featuring of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and HSPA+ support.
The price of the Huawei Ascend W2 is suggested to be below the $300 mark, so it should be definitely on the list of Windows Phone 8 customers looking for an inexpensive update in the near future. Sadly, nobody knows exactly when the Ascend W2 would make it to the market.

Galaxy S4 Active gets FCC certified, more S4 Zoom rumors

The Galaxy S4 mini was just made official and according to rumors there will be two more S4 family members joining the party soon – the Galaxy S4 Active and the Galaxy S4 Zoom.
The Galaxy S4 Active will be an IP57-certified version of the regular S4 – unlike the mini, it will pack almost the all of the high-end specs like a 5" Super AMOLED display with FullHD resolution, quad-core Snapdragon 600 chipset, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and LTE connectivity.
The main camera has been stepped down to 8MP, but the rest should be the same, a 2,600mAh battery, 16GB of built-in storage, microSD card slot, dual-band Wi-Fi and so on.
The AT&T version of the phone just passed FCC certification as the I537. While the FCC docs don't have a proper picture, these leaked images already revealed what the Active looks like.
The rumors continue with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. It's allegedly an S4 mini variant with the same 4.3" qHD Super AMOLED display, Android Jelly Bean, 8GB of storage and microSD card, 1,900mAh battery, but with a different processor clocked at 1.6GHz (presumably an Exynos 5 model). It's odd that the rumor states there won't be LTE connectivity on the S4 Zoom, as both the Galaxy Camera and Galaxy S4 mini have LTE.
Anyway, the camera is the headline feature of the Galaxy S4 Zoom – a 16MP shooter with 10x optical zoom. This is also the hardest to believe bit of the rumor, but we've heard the same thing in the past and we'll see what happens on June 20 when Samsung will announce new Galaxy and Ativ devices.

HTC One Nexus experience coming June 26 for $599

At the D11 conference Android's SVP officially announced the HTC One Nexus experience device, which is an HTC One with stock Android 4.2.2 at the helm.

The device will have 32GB of internal storage and will be available on June 26 through the Google Play store (in the US only) for $599. That's 50 bucks cheaper than the Google Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4, which will also be selling starting June 26.
The new smartphone will sport an unlocked bootloader and receive Android updates directly from Google. It has the same hardware as the regular HTC One, including the Snapdragon 600 chipset with four Krait 300 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. It will only be available in Silver color initially.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 gets Jelly Bean firmware in UK

If you've bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, you're probably all too familiar with its Jelly Bean rollout and how unnervingly tedious it is. While some countries received it already, the UK was still kept on hold (among other countries). Luckily, that's no longer the case and the firmware has been released to UK owners of the smartphone.

At first, Samsung was testing the firmware (in the beginning of February), then it was leaked (in the end of February), and finally the rollout began (in the beginning of April).
The update brings along Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX along with the major smoothness benefits of Jelly Bean's Project Butter.
You can flash the firmware on your smartphone as of now - download in the Source link below (go for I8160BTUMC8). Or you can wait for an update notification or keep checking through KIES on your computer.

BlackBerry Q10 coming to T-Mobile USA on June 5 for $100

The LTE-ready BlackBerry Q10 will be available on T-Mobile's 4G LTE network in the United States come this June 5. The device will pack a price tag of $100 on a two-year deal or $580, if you prefer it commitment-free from T-Mo.
The offer is valid for non-enterprise subscribers with business users still, controversially, being on the waiting list.
Along with BlackBerry's spanking new BB 10 OS, the Q10 comes with a physical landscape 4-row QWERTY, a 720 x 720 Super AMOLED 3.1-incher packing 328 ppi, 8 MP snapper, a dual-core Cortex-A9 chip clocked at 1.5 GHz and all-you-can-eat connectivity set with LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, etc. on board.
BlackBerry Messenger is also, naturally, present on the Q10 and it packs video chat for good measure.
No word yet on when the device will come to the entire range of US carriers but we expect it to be soon.

Huawei CEO denies P6 costing $330, suggests a price tag of $490

Earlier today the rumors regarding Huawei's future flagship smartphone suggested it would cost just $330, but the company's CEO was quick to debunk them.
Interestingly, at the very same time, a new official image was leaked by evleaks, showing the device in multiple colors, including white, black and pink.

Richard Yu, who is in charge of the management of the Chinese-based smartphone manufacturer, has tuned in today and officially denied the rumors of the Huawei P6 being so cheaply priced. According to him, the more "reasonable price" is around the $490 mark.
However, "those experienced in the industry", as Yu puts them, have said to him that the P6 should be priced at as much as $570.
Moroever, Yu goes on to saying that the Huawei P6's low price bruits were started by a Western company, which he didn't name, to damage the reputation of his company. Here are his exact words on the matter:
Huawei isn't emphasizing on high pricing and high profits. The Huawei Ascend P Series is an affordable smartphone line with nice design. There were rumors stated that the Huawei Ascend P6 will be priced at $330. This is one of the tricks from Western companies to strangle and damage the reputation of high quality devices from China. Please don’t get cheated by those rumors. Huawei Ascend P6 has the price for its innovation and design. But it is going to be a "reasonable price". Please wait until Huawei Ascend P6 launched into the market.
Here's hoping that the final price of the smartphone will become official on June 18, when Huawei is expected to unveil it to the world. The Ascend P6 is expected to pack a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor along with 2 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera, 32 GB inbuilt memory and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Here's Tim Cook on why no multi-tier iPhones or a phablet

Tim Cook did an interview at the All Things D11 conference and spilled some details not only on the WWDC-bound iOS7 but also on why Apple keeps on making just one iPhone, as opposed to different variations of it.
Given the question on why Apple doesn't follow the same strategy it does with the iPod (making different sizes for different people) Cook answered that the iPod serves a different purpose with its various sizes. However, with the iPhone, that's not the case, as there are a lot more fine details that go into making it.

According to Apple's CEO, many people take into consideration the quality of the display, its properties such as color representation, white balance, brightness and more. The screen size is not necessarily the key factor, as is the battery life and look and feel of Apple's smartphone.
"It takes a lot of work, a lot of really detailed work, to do a phone right, when you manage the hardware, software and services around it. We’ve chosen to focus our energy on getting those right. And we’ve made the choices in order to do that. So we haven’t become defocused [by] working on multiple lines."
Additionally, these devices wouldn't ultimately serve different types of people, as does the iPad mini or the iPod nano.
As far as iOS7 is concerned, Tim Cook mentioned it, too. He confirmed that indeed Johny Ive, Apple's VP of Industrial Design, has been working on the upcoming iteration of iOS. Johny Ive is "really key", as Cook put it, to the iOS redesign.
We expect the latest version of Apple's mobile OS to be unveiled at the WWDC next month (June 10) in addition to a refreshed Macbook line-up and possibly more.

HTC One to be available in Red and Blue versions

HTC's flagship smartphone has been one of the most popular Android devices in recent times and the metallic beauty will soon be available in new hues, according to a report from Pocket-lint.

HTC is all set to launch its One flagship smartphone in a Blue and Red variant and the latest shades will join the currently available Black and Silver versions.
The Red variant of the HTC One appeared on the HTC's US website, which was later pulled and the upcoming hue was listed in an online retailer's website in the UK with a price tag of £504 (about $760) for a 32 GB version.
Unfortunately, there is no official word on the existence or the availability of these colors.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini specs leak, same chipset as Mega 6.3

Samsung has yet to officially unveil the Galaxy S4 mini (perhaps on June 20?) but the leaks are getting more detailed so we have a pretty good picture of what to expect. The latest leak shows AnTuTu's info screens, which detail all the specs the benchmark managed to detect.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, model number I9195, has a screen (reportedly Super AMOLED) with qHD resolution and 240ppi, which doesn’t match the rumored 4.3" screen diagonal, but it's not uncommon for an app to report the wrong pixel density (4.3" screen with qHD resolution should have 256ppi).

The phone runs Android 4.2.2 on a Snapdragon 400 chipset – dual-core Krait 200 at 1.7GHz, 1.5GB RAM and Adreno 305, the same chipset found in the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. The available internal storage is listed as 5GB, so it should be 8GB in total.
AnTuTu also listed the two cameras – 8MP main camera and a 2.1MP front-facing camera.
This matches what we've heard about the Galaxy S4 mini so far. Note that there should be four versionsof the S4 mini – this one, the I9195 with LTE support, a I9150 model with Exynos 5 chipset (dual-core Cortex-A15 @ 1.6GHz), a I9192 dual-SIM, and the I9198 for the Chinese market.

Huawei Ascend P6 retail pricing revealed, will cost you $330

Huawei's upcoming flagship device, the Ascend P6, has been rumored for quite some time and we even saw the official photos of the ultra-thin smartphone a few days ago. Now, the pricing of the smartphone has been revealed ahead of its launch.

According to a report from Sina, a Chinese website, the Huawei Ascend P6 will be priced around 1,999 Chinese Yuan (about $330 or €255). Huawei is expected to introduce its flagship smartphone at a press event in London on June 18.
Huawei Ascend P6 will be one of the slimmest smartphones in the market with a thickness of 6.18 mm. The smartphone is said to sport a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 720p and a pixel density of 312 ppi. Furthermore, the Ascend P6 features a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor along with 2 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera, 32 GB inbuilt memory and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Moto X smartphone gets confirmed for assembly in the USA

Motorola's upcoming Moto X flagship smartphone got officially confirmed by the company's CEO Dennis Woodside. The upcoming handset from the reinvented, Google-owned Motorola will be the first smartphone to be assembled in the United States.

US versions of the Moto X will be assembled in a former Nokia plant in Fort Worth, Texas. Motorola's global network of operations will not change - the company will continue to manufacture devices in Brazil and China through its partner Flextronics.
Curiously, Motorola didn't reveal any details on the specs, or images of the Moto X (the render above is from a previous leak). Dennis Woodside however, confirmed that the upcoming flagship will be broadly distributed across numerous carriers.
