With Apple’s alleged low-cost iPhone coming later this fall, we’re already beginning to not only hear rumors about the device, but we are also seeing multiple part leaks. The most recent one being that shiny green rear shell, which shows a more plasticy, rounded design similar to the iPhone 3G/3GS—a stark contrast to the glass and aluminum ethos of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5.

Following up on that, one design firm has produced some really nice mockups for MacRumors, guesstimating what the final product, with its rainbow color scheme in full force, will look like. Upon first impressions, the device definitely looks like it belongs in the iPod touch lineup, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sure, the plastic design won’t necessarily be as premium, but it certainly doesn’t look bad all glossed up. It’s a departure for Apple, but it keeps that premium vision in tact.

The renderings reflect a more rounded off, thicker design; the volume buttons have also been slightly redesigned, while the speaker holes are more minimal. Of course, since these are mockups, they don’t guarantee what we’ll see from Apple later this year. But I wouldn’t expect Apple to stray very far from what’s shown above.

Apple is expected to launch the cheaper iPhone later this year alongside the iPhone 5S. From all the rumors and leaks we’ve seen thus far, the more affordable handset will likely be a cross between the iPhone 5 and iPhone 3G/3GS. It might not be the most exciting thing on paper, but the renders show the device could potentially look pretty good

Bad news, HTC One S users. Despite HTC never mentioning anything about it after the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, it's now official the smartphone will stuck on this version of the OS forever.
Unfortunately, HTC is breaking its promise of delivering the Sense 5 UI to the mid-range smartphone.
HTC France has responded to a question from Facebook user that the HTC One S won't be getting any new Android and Sense UI updates. Currently the HTC One S is running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 4+ user interface.
This means that the HTC One S will be left with just one major Android update in its lifecycle, which isn't too bad for a mid-range device, but certainly disappointing considering the capable hardware inside. We suspect the financial troubles that HTC is experiencing lately have contributed to this.
There is an outside chance that this is just a regional thing and other HTC One S units might get the Sense 5 update after all, but we wouldn't count on it

After announcing that it will build it in the United States, Motorola continued the patriotic theme in promoting the upcoming Moto X smartphone. The Google-owned company chose to release its first ad for the upcoming device right before the 4th of July.
The full-page print ad you see above, is set to be released in the July 3 editions of the New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal. Headed by the company's brand new logo, the Moto X ad is centered around the handset's assembly in the United States.
Another juicy bit from the ad is the statement that the Moto X is "the first smartphone you can design yourself." We are yet to find out what exactly this line means.
Considering the massive marketing push under way, we reckon that it won't be a long wait before the Moto X goes official. As always, we'll keep you posted on any further developments on the subject.

Oppo has upgraded the Find 5 flagship for China Mobile with a faster chipset. Previously the Oppo Find 5 was powered by the Snapdragon S4 Pro with a quad-core 1.5GHz Krait processor and Adreno 320 graphics with 64 ALUs (arithmetic logic units).
Now Oppo has replaced the S4 Pro chipset with Snapdragon 600. It has four cores of the upgraded Krait 300 architecture clocked at the higher 1.7GHz and the same Adreno 320 GPU but with 96 ALUs.


The rest of the specs remain the same - a 5" IPS 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, 13MP camera and 16GB non-expandable storage. The Android version has been updated to 4.2 Jelly Bean. Naturally Oppo's proprietary user interface is on top of it.
Despite the upgraded hardware, the Oppo Find 5 price remains unchanged.

Nokia hast just officially took the wraps off three new affordable handsets - the Nokia 207, Nokia 208 and 208 dual-SIM.


The trio of candybars is done in Nokia's bold colors that we're used to seeing and are almost identical to one another. Built around a 2.4" QVGA display and phone keypad, the only difference between the 207 and 208 is the 1.3MP camera at the back.
The 207 and 208 measure 114.2 x 50.9 x 12.8mm and weigh 89.6 grams and 90.5 grams, respectively (the extra gram is due to the camera). They all share a 1020mAh battery which doesn't sound much, but Nokia boasts the phones can go more than a month on stand-by without needing a recharge, while the talk time is estimated to be up to 12 hours on 2G.
Quad-band 2G and tri-band 3G mean that the 207 and 208 will work on most places. Connectivity is covered with Bluetooth 3.0, which supports Slam sharing, 3.5mm AV port and microUSB port for PC sync and charging. The both models support Nokia's data-compressing Xpress Browser, YouTube video streaming as well as popular social networks and services like Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp (will be available for the 208 initially). Mail for Exchange is supported for calendar and contacts sync, while the lack of a camera on 207 means that it can be used in workplaces which forbid cameras on sight, according to Nokia. There's a microSD card slot too, for storage up to 32GB.

Nokia says the phones are splash proof thanks to the lack of gaps between the keys. They're tough as well, due to the 'cup'-style design, reminiscent to Asha 501 and Lumia 620. This also means you can change the back shell with another and completely change the look of the phone.
Expect to phones to start shipping some time in Q3 this year with all three phones available in red, cyan, white and black. The Nokia 207, 208 and 208 dual SIM will cost around $68 / €52 each before local taxes and operator subsidies.

Former head of Nokia's sales department, Colic Giles has now a new employer in the face of Huawei. The Chinese company has appointed Giles as the Executive Vice President of its Consumer Business Group division.


This means the former Nokia exec will be in charge of Huawei's consumer sales and marketing. Giles has 20 years of experience, and was lastly responsible for growing Nokia's presence in the Asian market.
"I am delighted to join Huawei at such an exciting time in the development of Huawei's consumer brand," Giles said. "Over the last couple of years, the company has already made big strides in the global marketplace with the introduction of flagship products that quickly became the talk of the town, like the world's slimmest smartphone Ascend P6 launched just weeks ago. I look forward to working closely with everyone in the Consumer Business Group to continue to 'Make it Possible' for smartphone users worldwide."

Only time will tell if Giles is a good fit for the Chinese company and how his influence will have a positive effect on the company.
