Images Show Off Apple iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C In Full

We’re already pretty sure what Apple’s next iPhones (plural) will look like, but it’s always exciting to get a glimpse ahead of an official release, like peaking behind a secret curtain. Vietnamese website Tinhte, which acquired dummy iPhone units, is providing us with our most comprehensive look yet at Apple’s upcoming mobile devices, including the company’s cheaper iPhone 5C. It’s one big happy family.

Tinhte claims the units—iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C—were acquired from a Vietnamese accessory maker, which accurately supplied Tinhte with mockups of the iPad mini last year. There’s nothing really all that special about either of the dummy units, but the iPhone 5S model does indicate Apple will largely stick to the current iPhone 5 design (the iPhone 5 in the pictures is in that leather case), while the iPhone 5C clearly shows the company will use plastic material. We saw images of an iPhone 5C earlier this week, though it wasn’t quite as complete as the pictures today.

Apple is expected to launch both new iPhones this September, or possibly in early October, so we’re not all that far from seeing these officially. What the dummy units don’t tell us, obviously, are the device’s internal specs, and whether the iPhone 5S will come with fingerprint security. Chances are we’ll see and hear more information leading up to Apple’s upcoming announcement, so stay tuned.

Apple Allegedly Holding iPhone Event on Sept. 10

In exactly one month Apple is expected to announce its next iPhone(s), according to a report from AllThingsD. Sources speaking with the publication said the company’s event will be held on Sept. 10, a Tuesday, though it’s still unclear what exactly Apple will unveil—an iPhone, yes, but specs are still unknown, and AllThingsD’s sources didn’t specifically say if a cheaper iPhone would be part of the proceedings. Seeing as we’ve spotted rear casings of the supposed iPhone 5C pop up all across the Internet—we saw dummy units of both today—chances are high we’ll learn about two new mobile device soon.

Over the past several months, speculation for Apple’s next mobile devices has been at a fever pitch, particularly surrounding the company’s supposed budget iPhone. We’ve seen mid-production casings appear numerous times, and in an array of colors, so it would seem like that device’s existence is a lock. Harder to pin down, though, is what we’ll get with the next flagship iPhone, which will likely be called the iPhone 5S. Rumors suggest it’ll come with fingerprint scanning tech and a better camera, but the device is still largely a mystery.

The iPhone 5S will probably feature typical Apple fare—better specs, faster, iterative. With the iPhone 5C, Apple will reach into the opposite end of the spectrum while keeping a familiar design—a bit of iPhone 5 and iPhone 3GS thrown into the mix. Betas of Apple’s upcoming iOS 7 upgrade have been coming fast and furious, and we imagine the company will spend time going over the OS’s biggest features, and maybe a few changes over what we saw when it was first teased in June.

Apple has been relatively quiet this year having only released a few updates to its MacBook Air line. It’s unlikely we’ll see a brand new redesigned iPad during an iPhone event, but leaks have picked up over the past few weeks, so who knows. The company could surprise us with something big, a One More Thing-type moment—Apple retail stores are expecting a lot of new Apple gear this fall—but we’ll have to wait and see. Chances are Sept. 10 will be all about the iPhone, though.

The date of Sept. 10 isn’t itself particularly significant, but IFA will be taking place in Berlin that week, where many companies are expected to unleash their next flagships for the holiday period. Of course Apple would schedule an event during that week, across the world, where much of the attention will be redirected. Classic.

We have one month, then, until Apple shows us what it’s been working on all year. We’ll get iOS 7, yes, and Mavericks. We’ll also probably get an iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Whether we’ll see anything else, anything surprising, remains to be seen. Maybe a champagne colored iPhone 5S? I guess that wouldn’t be much of a surprise.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra display compared to the HTC One

The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is the company's first ever phablet and with an expected global debut in September, the smartphone is topping the wishlists for a lot of people. One of the reasons for the excitement is its 6.4" Triluminos screen with 1080p resolution.
The screen not only has the nice sounding 344ppi pixel density but it also uses Sony's OptiContrast and X-Reality tech, which is the successor of the Mobile BRAVIA. But how good is it actually? Vietnamese website Secafe tries to answer this question by comparing it to the 4.7" full HD Super LCD 3 display of the HTC One.

As you can tell from the photo above, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra 6.4" display produces more saturated and vibrant colors than the display of the Super LCD 3 display of the HTC One. Contrast is superior as well, thanks to Sony's OptiContrast and X-Reality baked into the display.
Even though the pixel density of the Xperia Z Ultra screen isn't as high as that of the HTC One's display (469ppi for the One against 344ppi for the Z Ultra), Sony's phablet doesn't appear to struggle with the sharpness. Naturally, we'll pass a final judgement when we get to see them both in person, but looking at the photos below, the Xperia Z Ultra's display is almost certainly the best one Sony has produced to date.
Here are some of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs. HTC One display comparison photos for you to judge.

The Xperia Z Ultra is powered by Qualcomm's most powerful chipset to date - the Snapdragon 800 - featuring a quad-core 2.2GHz Krait 400 processor, Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. We had the chance to put this beastly configuration under some benchmarking treatment and the results were astounding.
