Nokia EOS Prototypes Allegedly Being Tested in the Wild

One lucky individual has allegedly seen Nokia’s upcoming EOS handset—the company’s 41-megapixel, Windows Phone 8 monster—and it sounds like a cross between the Lumia 920, 925 and 928. Apparently the device rivals the 920 at its thickest point, but tapers off at both ends to give off a slimmer appearance. The device, though, is much lighter than a 920, and it’s made of the same polycarbonate materials, so you know it’ll be solid.
Additionally, the source said the device comes with a Xenon flash—both lens and flash are similar to the 808 PureView—and there’s supposedly a red LED beside the flash to assist with focus. The camera itself has a lens cover for protection, which opens when you jump into the camera app, and there’s a manual focus option for more control when shooting. Nokia is also developing a new app called Nokia Pro Camera that will complement the device’s regular photo app.
A release date is still unclear, but Nokia has hinted at the possibility of a July/August timeframe. Seeing as people are already getting their eyes on the device, it sure sounds like prototypes are being tested. An earlier report from April suggested Nokia was testing two different models, one of which had a Snapdragon 800 chip, so perhaps something more concrete will take shape soon.

Samsung Galaxy S4 expected to hit 10 million sales next week

The Samsung Galaxy S4 received a warm reception in the market upon its arrival and the success story seemed to write itself. The fourth-generation Galaxy S smartphone achieved 6 million sales in just two weeks and broke the record of its predecessor.

The sales of the latest flagship smartphone from Samsung are expected to skyrocket in the coming week and the device is predicted to pass the 10 million sales mark, according to Samsung co-CEO JK Shin.
"We are confident that we will pass more than 10 million sales of the S4 next week. It is selling much faster than the previous model S3. Samsung spent 50 days to pass the 10 million sales mark for the S3. The S4 will be Samsung’s first '10 million seller’ device less than a month after its official debut"
Furthermore, the report from Korea Times claims that JK Shin has confirmed that the next-generation Galaxy Note phablet would sport a 5.9-inch display.
Meanwhile, Google in collaboration with Samsung has launched a Galaxy S4 with stock Android and the device will be up for grabs for $649 starting from June 26.

HTC One to get Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update in 2-3 weeks

The HTC One, the Taiwanese flagship smartphone was launched back in March with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board, and it looks like the company might soon roll out the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the smartphone as well.

According to a tweet from an HTC Developer, the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the HTC One smartphone could be rolled out as soon as two or three weeks from now. However, there is no official word on the potential software update, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active spotted in benchmark scores

We have heard before of the ruggedized version of the Galaxy S4 - the Galaxy S4 Active - that Samsung is reportedly working on. Now, some more details about the hardware of the device have surfaced, in the form of benchmark results.
The Galaxy S4 Active, or the SGH-I537 for AT&T, was found in the GFXBench results database. Unlike the standard Galaxy S4, which runs on the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa internationally and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 in the US, the S4 Active is running on a MSM8960, which is a Snapdragon S4 Plus part, found on last year's Galaxy S III (US variants). It's a dual-core chip and is clocked at 1.9GHz, which is rather high for this processor that until now was only found running at 1.7GHz.
Other than this, we know that the S4 Active, at least the one in benchmarks was running on Android 4.2.2 and has a 1920 x 1080 resolution display.
It does seem that if you want a more rugged version of the S4 you will have to compromise on the performance front. Hopefully, Samsung won't be making any more compromises on the specification front with the Active.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini benchmark scorecard surfaces

We all know that, Samsung is working on a "mini" variant of its Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone. Images of the Galaxy S4 mini have been leaked few times and now, we got yet another benchmark results of the device.
Interestingly enough, the new result points to a Qualcomm chipset, rather than the Exynos 5 we heard of earlier. Either one of the two rumors is fake, Samsung had a sudden change of heart or there will be two different versions (like on the regular Galaxy S4).

Anyway, the new benchmark scorecard confirms that the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini will sport a 960 x 540 pixel display. The chipset is listed to sport a 1.7GHz dual-core Krait processor and an Adreno 305 GPU.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini will run on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of box and will have a wide range of connectivity options that include Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11n.
