Apple iPhone 5S might be delayed due to a 4.3-inch display switch

The latest report on the next iPhone suggests Apple might be delaying the iPhone 5S until the end of the year. It comes from Commercial Times and the reason quoted is an alleged screen size bump to 4.3 inches though there is no word whether the resolution will change as well. This report comes just a day after we informed you that the production of the iPhone 5S will start by the end of July.

Previously the iPhone 5S was rumored to bring an improved camera and a new more powerful chipset, while retaining the same design, but it seems Apple might be breaking the established pattern. So far, the S models used the same shells and screens as their predecessor.
According to the report the long rumored cheaper iPhone is still scheduled for a Q3 release. Its chips started shipping this June, while the iPhone 5S parts are supposed to be ready as early as this August.
As usual the next iPhone(s) rumors will flourish through the next couple of months with the closing of the fall when Apple is expected to host at least one device event. You'd be well advised to take them all with a healthy dose of doubt as there's nothing officially confirmed just yet.

Google sets an event for July 24, next Android release coming

Google has just sent out press invites for its Android event that'll be happening on July 24 at 19:00 GMT in San Francisco. The photo that the company attached simply reads "Please join us for breakfast with Sundar Pichai."

Pichai, the VP of Android and Chrome, sure has some cool news to share regarding the next version of Google's mobile OS. Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has been out for a while now for the Google Play Store edition Samsung Galaxy S4. We took if for a spin, but, didn't find too much new stuff inside, so we are hoping it wasn't the final build. Hopefully, at the event happening next Wednesday, Google will unveil more changes to Android.
Android 4.3 is said to still carry the Jelly Bean name. It seems that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will be unwrapped at the next Google I/O.
Additionally, the second-generation Nexus 7 tablet is expected to be announced. It's been heavily rumored to pack a 7" display of full HD resolution and a Snapdragon 600 CPU. ASUS is said to be responsible for building the next Nexus tablet.

Following the infographic from a couple of days ago, HTC released yet another teaser of the upcoming One mini smartphone. A photo capturing the device's corner on HTC UK's official Twitter profile comes with a word that the little brother of the Taiwanese flagship will break cover on July 18.

The sneak peak of the HTC One mini falls right in line with the numerous leaks from the past. The smartphone sports the same design as the "regular" One, save for the featured polycarbonate around its edges.
Rumored specs of the HTC One mini include a dual-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 4.3" 720p display, a gig of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage. The 4MP UltraPixel camera from the flagship One is also said to be on board.

More live photos and specs of LG Optimus G2 surface

Furthermore, the Optimus G2 will be shipped with 2 GB of RAM on-board, rather than the 3 GB as rumored previously.
To recap the rumored specifications of the upcoming flagship smartphone from LG, the device will sport a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device will feature a Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2.3 GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor, 13 megapixel camera, LTE radio and dual-speakers.

Red Lumia 1020 leaks, on its way to AT&T

Stephen Elop announced the Nokia Lumia 1020 with an epic 41MP camera almost a week ago and said it'll be available in three color variations: yellow, white and black. However, as a leaked posted by evleaks shows, the WP8 cameraphone is going to also be available in an additional hue.
As you can see on the left, the exclusive red color is destined for AT&T customers only. Come July 26 you'll be able to buy the Nokia Lumia 1020 for $299.99 with a two-year contract. If you want to be among the first to have it, you can now pre-order your unit.
There's no information whether the red Nokia Lumia 1020 will be available at launch or shortly after that.

New Sony Honami photo surfaces, shows camera UI

Following yesterday's specs leak of the upcoming Sony Honami, another image has popped up showing off the new camera interface of the anticipated nextSony flagship.

Now the 20MP sensor and the redone camera interface aren't exactly news - the latter is even available for current Xperia flagships via a leaked ROM, but it's the first we see it running on the actual phone. The above image also reveals that Sony has been hard at work trying to match the smartphone camera offerings by competing manufacturers like Samsung, and, more recently, Nokia.
Back to the Sony Honami - the smartphone is said to feature Sony's G-lens and BIONZ image processing for its 1/2.3" image sensor. The device will have a 5-inch 1080p display and will be running on a Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2.2 GHz quad-core Krait 400 CPU, Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. There will be 16 GB of expandable storage and the whole thing will be powered by a 3000 mAh battery. Like most recent high-end Sony smartphones, the Honami will feature IP57 dust and water resistance.

Sony will officially announce the Honami at its IFA press event in Berlin on September 4.
