Apple will very likely announce its new iPhone during a press event that is reportedly scheduled for Sept. 10.  For the past several months we’ve been covering rumors of two devices, the iPhone 5S and the budget iPhone 5C, and a new report suggests that those will indeed be the final names.

News outlet Makotakara made the claims on Sunday, while also noting that Apple is also going to offer the iPhone 5S in white, black or champagne gold, again lining up with leaked parts suggesting that champagne will be a color option. The site also said that Apple is going to remove the white square from the home button on the new iPhone, where the button will also double as a fingerprint scanner. The iPhone 5S will pack an A7 processor and an 8-megapixel f2.0 camera, Makotakara said.

Apple will very likely announce the iPhone 5C on Sept. 10, just under a month from now. We’ve already seen the phone in video and in plenty of leaked images. Today, however, we’re being treated to a huge gallery of high-resolution photos of the green model, thanks to Sonny Dickson. We’re only looking at the shell again, we can see that there aren’t any internal parts yet, but we like that we finally have crisp images to evaluate.

We can see the 3.5mm headphone jack next to the Lightning port on the bottom of the device, presumably next to a speaker grill, and the glossy plastic finish. There’s also a camera on the back that flanks a single LED flash. The iPhone 5S, by comparison, will have a dual-LED flash. While this shows the green model, we’re also expecting white, blue, red and yellow versions.

The iPhone 5C may launch in the U.S., though we expect Apple’s big priority is to launch it in emerging markets such as China. Tim Cook has met with China Mobile’s president, and it could be the first iPhone ever to launch on that carrier’s proprietary TD-SCDMA network. We’ll know more on September 10.

Despite how silly some people may think a 12.9-inch iPad would be, it’s something worth at least considering how it might look.

A rumor popped up in May about the iPad Maxi, which pretty much everyone dismissed as bogus. The rumor has since popped up again from a slightly more reliable source, so the folks over at MacRumors decided to see just what a 12.9-inch iPad might look like.

The images show off what the massive tablet might look like compared to a 9.7-inch iPad, an iPad mini and a 13-inch MacBook Air. As silly as this concept sounded at first, you can now color us a bit intrigued.

Will it actually appear on store shelves? We don’t know, but if it does the rumors are pointing to it happening in 2014. Stay tuned.
