Nokia will stop shipping Symbian phones this summer

Nokia will stop shipping Symbian smartphones this summer, thus leaving the revered 808 PureView as its last developed product on the "burning platform." Going forward, the only smartphones manufactured by the Finnish giant will boot Microsoft's Windows Phone OS.

Nokia pointed long development of Symbian devices as one of the reasons to halt their production. According to the manufacturer it takes 22 months to bring a Symbian product to the market, compared to less than a year for a Windows Phone handset.
Of course, there is also the matter of the number of units sold. Nokia moved only 500,000 Symbian smartphones in Q1 this year - significantly less than the 5.6 million Lumia devices sold during the same period.

HTC One Mini gets caught posing for the camera once again

The HTC One Mini has made yet another appearance in front of the camera. This time around, the upcoming mid-range offering got caught next to its bigger brother in a matching color.

The fresh batch of rumored specs for the HTC One Mini fall right in line with previous reports. The upcoming smartphone is said to feature a 4.3" display (likely a 720p unit), and a 1.4GHz dual-core CPU (a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 is widely expected). The camera is tipped to be capable of capturing Zoe share and 1080p videos, though no further details were given this time around. The OS on the leaked device is Sense-d Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
The HTC One Mini will feature the gorgeous aluminum body of its flagship sibling. The Mini however will have a plastic ring around it, as seen in the image above, and no IR remote.
The HTC One Mini is expected to go official at some point in Q3 this year. Given how little is left to our imagination this far, we doubt it will be a long wait.

Sony gives a glimpse of the Xperia Z Ultra in a press invite

Sony teased its upcoming phablet, codenamed Togari in a press invite. The previously leaked device is set to break cover at an event in Paris in less than a month, on July 4th, as Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

As you can see in the image above, the press invite reveals one of the device's sides, thus showcasing its slim profile, as well as its power/lock key, volume rocker, and the likely dedicated camera button. Overall, the upcoming phablet appears to carry the same design language as the well-received Sony Xperia Z.
Rumored specs of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra include a 6.44" 1080p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, and an 8MP main camera. The phablet is expected to boot Android 4.2 Jelly Bean at launch.
Like the Sony Xperia Z, the upcoming phablet is rumored to be water resistant. The display will reportedly support input from a stylus or a pencil - the hand written note on the invitation also suggests that the feature will be present.
Be sure to tune in on July 4 for the full scoop on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. In the meantime, we'll keep our eyes open for more details.

Shelter APK

Playing like a hybrid of a collectible card game and the castle defence genre, Shelter will provide you with hours of challenging play.

Defend yourself from the zombie onslaught as you fight to be reunited with the woman you love. You define your strategy, but be warned...

You'll need to adapt to survive.

Features:
Deep but accessible gameplay. Easy to learn. Hard to master.
More than 100 game cards.
Integrated deck builder for deeply customisable play.
Graphic novel & comic inspired hand drawn artwork.
Compelling story and characters.
5 Campaign levels including a free roaming level.
The inspiration for Shelter comes from the desire to combine the complex, rich gaming mechanics of collectible card duelling games with the simple accessible gameplay of the castle defence genre.

Shelter is an asymmetric single-player card game where you build a deck of duelling cards and take them into battle against a zombie deck that "plays itself". The zombie deck is not controlled by a hideously complex AI, but plays based on a simple set of rules with dice rolls to add the element of chance. You must fight off the waves of zombies before they smash your shelter's barricades and start munching on your brains.

You choose your survival strategy when you build your deck. Do you pack as many guns into your deck as you can? Do you use traps and reinforce your defences? Do you stun stronger zombies and pick off the weak ones? You have the freedom to play as you want.

As you win duels, you will be rewarded with new cards to work into your deck and streamline your play style. You will also meet allies throughout the campaign who you take into battle with you. Each ally brings 5 themed cards to the table that allow you to experience different styles of play.

Leaked screenshots show what Sony's Android 4.2 might look like

Sony Xperia ZU a.k.a. "Togari" is the rumored 6.44" phablet coming on June 25 with a Snapdragon 800 chipset and Android 4.2.2. The new version of Android will reportedly bring a slightly tweaked Sony UI.
Here are some screenshots that are allegedly from the updated software. We tried to match them with screenshots from our Xperia Z review and aside from minor cosmetic changes the UI is mostly the same.
Well, Sony's custom UI is still one of the closest to stock Android. We have to wonder what will happen to the new lockscreen - will it have Android 4.2's widgets or the fancy 3D effect of Sony? Unfortunately, the leaked screenshots don't give the answer to that question but the official announcement of the ZU might just do it.

Sony Xperia M gets priced in the UK and Germany

The Sony Xperia M has had its price revealed in the UK and Germany.
The single SIM variant of the handset is available for preorder in Germany from Cyberport.de for €239, while the dual-SIM version is listed at notebooksbilliger.de for €299. The difference seems a bit too big so we assume the latter price is slightly off, though.

In the UK, Handtec has the single-SIM model for £227.99, but it is currently listed as out of stock. Meanwhile, Carphone Warehouse has the M pegged for an August 2013, which coincides with the Q3 launch frame given by Sony on announcement.
The Sony Xperia M was revealed last week by Sony. Besides offering dual-SIM and single-SIM models, is a midrange handset with a 4-inch display of FWVGA resolution, dual-core 1 GHz Krait processor, 4 GB of expandable storage and 1 GB of RAM. It'll run Android 4.1 out of box, and it also has a slew of connectivity features which include NFC, and a 5MP shooter with front-facer.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom official with 10x zoom, Android 4.2

Samsung has just officially announced its latest cameraphone running Android and it's called the Galaxy S4 Zoom. It's basically a hybrid between the Galaxy S4 mini and the Galaxy Camera, combining solid smartphone functionality with the versatility of a zoom lens and a proper flash.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is built around a 4.3" Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 960x540 pixels and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. Under the hood the smartphone sports a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM. The hybrid has a footprint similar to the Galaxy S4 mini, but is notably thicker at 125.5x63.5x15.4 mm.
It's also notably heavier at 208g, but that was to be expected given the much larger camera module and the proper grip.
The key selling point of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom though, is its camera, which has 16MP sensor, a 10x zoom and a xenon flash. It's capable of 10x optical zoom, which is less than the 21x zoom of the Galaxy Camera, but has nicely sounding 24mm wide lens, which we believe is more important.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom official photos
The Galaxy S4 Zoom is capable of 1080p video recording @ 30fps (and 720p@60fps) and on paper sounds to be a promising snapper. The smartphone runs Android 4.2.2 with Samsung's TouchWiz coating on top.

The battery has 2330mAh, so it should be able to take you through a day of smartphone usage and calls even if you do more than the occasional photo.
Since we had the chance to play with the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, we bring you a few live photos of the device.

The internal memory is 8GB, expandable by up to 64GB via the hot-swappable microSD card slot. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and A-GPS. The Samsung S4 Zoom will be able to make phone calls and supports 3G with HSPA and even LTE connectivity.
