Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 600 processor is currently the mobile industry’s cream of the crop, powering some of today’s top Android devices including the HTC One,the LG Optimus G Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S4, just to name a few. But attention is already being slightly diverted toward the better Snapdragon 800, which Qualcomm said on Friday will go into mass production next month.

The Snapdragon 600 SoC is certainly beefy enough, but the 800 promises to make mobile devices even more powerful. The Snapdragon 800 sports more powerful Krait 400 architecture, which can maintain a 2.3GHz clockspeed while easing up on power consumption because of its ability to clock four cores asynchronously. Additionally, the upcoming chip has an Adreno 330 graphics processor for 4K video playback at 30fps.

Qualcomm didn’t say which devices will include the new 800 processor, but the company did say to stay tuned for June. As we move on into next month and beyond, I’m sure the Internet will be rife with device leaks running the beastly new chip. And with IFA scheduled for Sept., I think it’s safe to say we’ll see plenty of notable announcement from OEMs utilizing Qualcomm’s latest.
